On 27 February 2020, the US Government warned that terrorist groups may be plotting an attack against a major hotel in Nairobi. The exact hotel has not been identified, but it is believed to be a hotel popular with tourists and business travellers.

Exercise a high degree of caution in Kenya overall due to the high threat of terrorist attack and high crime levels.
Higher levels apply in other parts of the country.
