On 30 October, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck in the Aegean Sea, off Turkey’s Izmir province. If you are in the region, contact your family and friends and let them know you are safe. The US Government has warned of credible reports of potential terrorist attacks and kidnappings against US citizens and foreign nationals in Istanbul, as well as potentially other locations in Turkey. Exercise heightened caution in locations where foreigners may gather. Turkey has largely reopened its international land, sea and air borders. Many scheduled international flights have resumed. Everyone arriving into Turkey will be subject to medical checks. The wearing of face masks is mandatory at all times outside the home throughout Turkey.
